Weekly Update + NaNoWriMo + The Hate U Give Movie Review

I didn’t get as much reading done this week as I hoped (again), but I did get to read all last weekend, which was nice since it was the first really cold weekend of the season.

Yesterday, I decided I’m officially doing NaNoWriMo, which I’m super pumped for. I was kind of toying with the idea, but then thought I wouldn’t have the time since November is filled with cons and holidays and generally sleepiness from the colder weather and darker days. But I’m going to make time for it.

This might mean fewer blog posts in November, but I’ll do my best. I’ll still try to do Top 5 Tuesday because I can schedule those in advance, but I don’t know that I’ll have time for these weekly update posts or as many book reviews. We’ll see. It would kind of be cool to give a weekly update on my NaNoWriMo progress, so maybe that’s what these weekly update posts will become in November.

I spent so much time last night outlining my story, then as I told my boyfriend the plot, I started realizing all of these plot holes and things that don’t really make sense, so then I stayed up really late outlining again.

I also installed Ubuntu on my laptop because it couldn’t really handle Windows anymore, and it finally runs kind of okay. It used to take like 20 minutes to boot up and then would randomly crash, so hopefully this fixes that problem and I’ll have a laptop for NaNoWriMo so that I don’t have to sit at my desk all evening.

The Hate U Give
I saw The Hate U Give last night and it was fantastic. It’s definitely in my top three book-to-movie adaptations. They perfect captured the characters, their family dynamics, and all of the emotions of the book.

The actress that plays Starr, Amandla Stenberg, did an amazing job. If she doesn’t get nominated for an Oscar for her performance, I’ll be pretty darn mad.

I pretty much cried the entire time.

If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. And if you haven’t read the book, go read the book. It’s such an important topic that was portrayed so well.

Book stuff!
Books I’ve finished this week:

  • Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
  • Dead Beat (The Dresden Files #7) by Jim Butcher

Books I’m currently reading:

  • How to Stop Time by Matt Haig
  • Yes, Please by Amy Poehler

Books I’m reading next:

  • An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green

In case you missed them, here are my blog posts from this week:

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
