A blogging update

So you may have noticed that I’ve been a bit absent lately (or probably not).

I kind of hit a point a few weeks ago where I realized that blogging about books was kind of terrible for my mental health. I basically had no chill. I was either spending all of my free time reading and writing posts, or I was doing neither of those things. There was no happy medium.

In the past few weeks, I’ve done the latter, and it’s been kind of great. For the past few months, I would come home from work and immediately start reading and I would pretty much spend my evening doing that. I would feel guilty if I didn’t utilize my commute to listen to audiobooks, too. It got to the point where I wasn’t even really enjoying reading; I was just doing it because I felt like I had to.

Then one day a few weeks ago I decided I needed a break. Even when I made that decision, I didn’t even fully realize how obsessive I had become. Then I started to spend my free time relaxing – catching up on shows, listening to podcasts, playing video games, learning the guitar, etc, and I realized how much happier I was.

So obviously stopping blogging about books is the smart idea. But I love writing. And I love writing about things I like. So I’m going to keep doing that.

Maybe I’ll review books every so often once I’m out of this slump, but definitely not at the rate I was doing so before.

So from now on, you can expect me to talk about TV shows, movies, music, birding, crafts, random things I like, and more.

I hope you’ll stick around!

I am so happy that you are finally taking time for you. Self care is so important. I am proud of you for looking after yourself and recognizing that you needed a break. Keep doing you. I can’t wait to ready your craft and guitar blogs

I say do what makes you happy. It’s terrible when you lose your passion for reading because it becomes more of a job than an enjoyment. Take a step back, relax, and do you. Self care is uber important. Take care and we’ll see you when you’re ready. πŸ™‚
